This country never fails to amuse me when it comes to snow. Any suggestion that the white stuff might actually touch ground and the place falls into self-induced chaos.
We received an email from the children’s school today saying that, while they weren’t closing the school, due to the snow, we could pick them up early if we wanted to.
Two things:
- There was barely an inch of snow in the ground and, although it had been snowing for a couple of hours during the day, the weather forecast was fairly clear that it wasn’t going to get any worse. Worst case scenario was that it might take an extra few minutes to walk there.
- We love our kids immensely but since both my wife and I work from home on Mondays, having DS3 and DD4 knocking around for an extra couple if hours wasn’t something either of us would consider a positive.
Needless to say we had a very short conversation which basically amounted to, “They’re kidding, right?” And that was the end of the matter.
Edit: It seems the Telegraph agrees with me – Keep the schools open
