Taking responsibility isn’t high on anyone’s agenda these days. We see it every time something goes wrong: the shrug of the shoulders and the finger is pointed at someone else.
From the outset in the Garden of Eden our parents blamed God, blamed each other and blamed the serpent for their own sin. They had made a wilful decision to live life on their own terms and then claimed it wasn’t their fault. We’ve not changed much at all really, have we?
So on this Good Friday I’m holding up my hand. Why did Jesus have to die? Because of me.
Man of Sorrows! what a name
for the Son of God, who came
ruined sinners to reclaim!
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!
